Dennis Robinson founder and CEO of Wildfire Tactics & Atmospheric Research Institute with Governor Jim Gibbons of Nevada.
Dennis is a retired Los angeles City Fire Captain with thirty three years of firefighting experience. After the Angora fire in Lake Tahoe California, Dennis set up a meeting with Governor Gibbons and the managing partner of the large firefighting DC-10 airtanker known as "Tanker 910".
After meetings with officials, it was determined that the state of Nevada could not afford to contract this type of aircraft for firefighting.
Other than the state of California, few states could afford large jet airtankers, let alone a fleet of airtankers necessary to control wildland fires. The USFS & BLM operates a fleet of air tankers which is diminishing and ageing. It was this realization and much more which prompted the founding of WTARI.
We are dedicated to nationalizing wildland firefighting and creating an environment where equipment, personnel, funds and organization are not an issue to the great losses caused by wildland fires in this nation.
